What is a CSA?

CSA stands for community supported agriculture. Other terms you may hear are farm share or meat share. A CSA is a a way for members of the public to buy local products from local farmers. When a farmer establishes a CSA they create a certain number of shares of their product and interested consumers will then purchase a share. On our farm, we give you the option to purchase a whole lamb share, a whole turkey share or a half or whole hog share. We also offer a farm share which allows customers the ability purchase a share in our farm which entitles them to a monthly 10lb portion of the herbs we grow, meat, and other edible goods.

Advantages for farmers:

• We get to market our product early in the year before we have to send our animals to be processed.

• Receive payment early in the season, which helps with the farm's cash flow.

• Have an opportunity to get to know the people who eat the food that we produce.

Advantages for consumers:

• You have the peace of mind knowing that your food is fresh, local, and raised humanely.

• You are able to actually see where your food comes from. As a member of the CSA you are able to schedule a time to come see our farm and see your food growing!

• Develop a relationship with the farmer who takes care of your animal and learn what it takes to produce the food you eat every day.

How it works:

We will announce availability of whole and half animal shares as well as openings in our farm share program through our social media accounts, which you can find links to below. If you choose to participate in a whole or half animal share you will be asked to fill out a CSA agreement form during checkout. After check out, you can expect roughly 5 to 6 months for both pigs and lambs to reach butcher weight. Once they are scheduled for their processing date you will be notified when you can expect to go to the processor to pickup. At which point you will pay the processing fee and pick up your share. We also offer members who have purchased a whole animal the ability to pick up their live animal directly from the farm and take it to a processor of their choice or process it themselves.
